In this issue of Eye See we venture into the world of food to show how you can use your kitchen to make a big difference in the world.
When you sit down to eat, what do you think about? The taste of your food? The restaurant you find yourself in? The company you keep?
What about the man or woman who may have hand-picked the vegetables on your plate?
How about the child next door that went to school a little too hungry to concentrate?
As a society we are more connected than ever, and the connections go beyond technology. At any given moment you could be consuming edibles from West Africa, intentionally deciding to fight poverty on your own street, or digging your hands in to the sweet dirt of your own garden as you prepare to drop off the surplus at the nearest homeless shelter.
More than just a few often rushed moments in our day, our approach to food has the potential to be the ripples we need to make a better planet – both for each other and for our environment.
We hope to unveil the mystery of fair-trade; Reveal the potential we have to affect others, often far away and thoughtfully connect you to those stepping out to make a difference.
As always, these pages include the ways you can be a part of this food revolution. Use your own hands and backyard to make the world a better place. Fight for the rights of plantation workers and support their cause. Download the app that will help you shop for what is right.
Concisely: Vote with your Fork. Grow a better world.
We are with you!
