Many kids in developing countries have to walk miles to school, clean water and get medical help, without wearing any shoes!
By walking barefoot millions of kids are at risk of injuries, infections and soil-transmitted diseases that most families can’t afford to treat.
One for one
In 2006, the American Blake Mycoskie went to Argentina and found that the kids there were not wearing any shoes to protect their feet. A big compassion and a willingess to help lead Blake to start TOMS Shoes. He returned to Argentina a year later with 10 000pair of shoes.
TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for one. By using the purchasing power of individuals it will benefit for the greater good.
Why give shoes?
“Children who are healthy are more likely to be successful students, and access to educations is a critical determinant of long-term success.”
Giving Is Catching On…
As the One for One movement continues to grow, it is TOMS’ hope that more companies will start to give . As individuals we all can make a difference by raising awareness and inspire other to do create a momevent.
